Smart move made by EEG here. The HK and Chinese audience would not be able to accept a comeback yet but I haven’t heard the taiwanese audience complaining much about Gil so I guess this would be the “safest” place to return. I’m happy for her an everything because it would be really sad if those photos ruined her whole career BUT choosing to return with this drama is a bad idea in my oppinion and this is not because I’m a TianEn supporter :P The main reason why is because of the role she is taking on. Excerpts from the article:
Gillian will play a girl who was born in America and is a very innocent beautiful young girl.
SETTV Director Chen Yu Shan expressed, “Gillian’s acting is not bad, and is suitable to play an innocent beautiful young girl. This role is quite hard to play, so we’re afraid that if we get a newbie to play it, the result will not be as good.”
Um HELLO? The innocent image was long gone after the scandal and now Gil is making her return by portraying yet ANOTHER “innocent” young girl role? I’m not saying Gil should never play another one of these roles again but now is not the time because it hasn’t even been a year yet since the scandal happened. They need to wait for that image of her to fade away and it has NOT faded away yet. EEG has pretty much just accepted any decent role that has been offered because they want their cash cow back, bad mistake.
Other news:
CHARLENE in a drama with MIKE HE?!? Whoa, this is weird. What’s with all these taiwanese activities? I approve of them though because Taiwan has cuter guys :P But I never expected Mike He to be paired with Charlene. I can imagine it right now, people will be comparing her with Rainie =.= I’m more excited about Charlene’s collaboration with Show, now that will be AWESOME =D However, I’ve noticed that Charlene always gets all these cool partners in films BUT they are always poor quality films (I haven’t watched Butterfly Lovers yet). I hope this movie with Show won’t be disappointing.
Little things that amused me:
To prevent from being linked to Edison Chen’s name – Chen Guan Xi, the character in the drama – ‘Chen Guan Qi’ will be changed to ‘Mai Si Ding’
That’s just pure laughter! They are going to link Gil with Edison regardless of what the name of her character will be. Actually, I doubt the audience would have linked the name to Edison because there’s so many other things that could be linked. Whatever floats your boat director.
Coincidentally, the character that Ethan plays is named Lucas, which is also Cecilia Chung’s son’s english name.
I guess small things amuse small minds but I found it funny how they actually found that “coincidental”. I mean, there’s like a BIZILLION other Lucas’ in the world because it is a fairly common name. This is like me saying “Oh coincidentally, Fiona Yuen’s character in Last One Standing is named Fiona, which is also my name” Oh.My.God!
After all that, I’m a bit skeptical about this article. If this is actually real than good luck to Gillian but if it’s only gossip than I hope they don’t really find a comeback role like this for her. And instead of Charlene x Mike He why don’t we have a Charlene x Danson drama! xD I’ve been watching They Kiss Again but more on that later ;)
